More Framing

Sorry that it has been about 2 weeks since my last post. The framing is continuing. The lower lever is virtually completed and the framers have made great progress on the upper level.

This is facing North with the North and West exterior walls up.

This shot from ground level shows that the upper level East and South walls are just about done. They still need to cut the windows out on the South wall. Also, the large opening on the Southeast wall will be framed in for a couple windows. I think they are leaving it open for now, so they can pump in the concrete for the floor when we get to that stage. We will have radiant heat throughout the house. You can also see some of the roof trusses in the foreground.

This is looking toward what will eventually be the office, the second bedroom and the spare bathroom. It is difficult to really see it because the studs are more skeletal than defining.

This is about the same view as the previous pic. Notice that they have started installing roof trusses. The plan for this week is to measure the kitchen and bathrooms for cabinets since they will require 8 weeks to delivery. The great thing is that it is finally starting to look like something.

The framers started!

Due to the vagaries of the construction industry, the framers got started this week. :^) I am amazed at how much they were able to accomplish in such a short period of time. They were able to virtually complete framing the lower level of the house. There was a day lost due to the inability of the truck delivering the floor trusses to be able to make it up our driveway. This might be a bad omen for winters to come. The next day, the trusses were delivered by two larger trucks and most of them were put in place by Friday afternoon.

This is the South view with Michelle providing perspective.

This shows a view of what will be my shop, again from the South facing North.

This is a view of the front. Notice the floor trusses on top of the sheathing.

An exciting view facing Southeast showing the trusses. If the framers weren't so meticulous in their cleanup, I would have walked a plank to get on top of the structure, but, alas, there were no adequate scraps to bridge the gap.

We met the builder, Joe, there yesterday morning and went through our issues and a few minor changes. While we were there, two of our neighbors stopped up at our site. They seem very nice and since Ken also does some woodworking, I hope to be able to learn from him.

No visible progress to report! :-(
